Medication of weight loss has been always an issue of public and medicine concern as obesity is alarmingly growing in the world. Roche launched their new weight loss drug in market by the brand name of Xenical. It contains Orlistat which is a lipase inhibitor and is said to lower fat absorption from gut by 30% with almost no systemic side-effects. Though approved by FDA as over the counter sale drug the weight loss effects of Orlistat as shown by random control trials are not much pounding. They lie in the modest range in obese person as compared to a placebo (non-drug tablet). So the choice of Orlistat should be made on the prescription of doctor only and not by yourself in order to get maximum benefits.
