Dr. Robert Atkin (1930-2003) a medical graduate himself gathered ideology after reading about a diet in a medical journal in the 1960’s. Fats are considered most obvious cause of obesity. Even the basic idea behind the weight loss therapy is to reduce body fat, either by decreasing its intake or by increasing energy utilization to burn out extra fat. Fat substitutes can help in this fight against obesity. Fat substitutes not only reduce fat quantity in the diet but also decrease normal fat absorption by body. As they are a recently introduced in the market their long term safety is debate able, however their effectivity can be smelled clearly. Weight loss diet plan should contain these fat substitutes as they will help in achieving results with more ease. FDA has approved their use in diet. So one should make them part of normal diet also instead of regular fats.
